Skyelee21

Hey Fanfic Lovers!

This post is the interview that I had with the lovely Skyelee21. I had a lot of fun interviewing her! She's a really nice person and has great advice for those of you who are just starting your writing career. I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did.  Before I forget, I would like to thank all who have participated in this interview and helped me think of some good questions to ask Skyelee!

SHOUT OUTS TO GYPSY!! ^_^

Side Note: I'm still accepting questions for Miss Bouakham and S U N D A E and Gypsy! Get those questions in before they are too late!

Happy Reading!!!

D.O.B.: 2-21

First Name: Tara

Online Aliases: skyelee21 (on Soomp!)

Personal Blog (if any): I have an old writing journal on LJ which is skyescraps, mainly featuring DBSK ficlets, and I’m hoping to revive my new writing blog fugueindminor, on LJ as well.

Tru: How would you phonetically pronounce the name of your blog? It looks like a German word!

Skyelee: It’s actually three words and a letter, fugue in D minor, with fugue pronounced like “few” with a “g” at the end of the word (fewg). I am especially fond of the concept of flight (my twitter name has the actual word), and in musical terms, fugue is French for “to flee” or basically, “flight.” I chose “D” because of DBSK, and minor because I was only thinking of posting drabbles and short fics back when I was creating the blog. :P

Tru: What or who have been your biggest inspiration to write your fanfics?

Skyelee: Basically anybody I’m looking up to or admiring at the moment (entertainment industry-wise). Lee Donggun was my “key” to Korean fanfiction writing, since he starred in my first fanfiction that featured a Korean character.

Tru: It's common knowledge that you are a fellow DBSK fan.  How do you feel about the new groups that have formed after the SM Entertainment controversy with the now JYJ group?

Skyelee: I have no problems whatsoever with the new groups, really. People come and go and in the entertainment industry most especially, nobody really is indispensable. I do however, have trouble keeping track of the new groups and don’t have as much time now to fangirl like I did with DBSK five years ago, so it would be a task for me to write anything related to the new groups. This is why I still write with DBSK (Yunho, Changmin and Yoochun—my biases—most especially) in mind.

Tru: Well, I don't have a problem with you sticking to DBSK…. I actually prefer them over the others because I'm more familiar with their faces. And like you said every other day someone new comes out. There isn't enough time in our lives to fangirl over the lastest group anymore! Lol The pleasures and blessings of being a young fangirl! How do you fit writing these fics into your busy schedule?

Skyelee: Actually, I have trouble fitting it in my schedule, since right now there are so so so many distractions (*cough*TVXQCOMEBACK*cough* for one) that I find it difficult to just sit down and just write! Sometimes when inspiration hits me hard I just grab a pen and my notebook and scribble stuff down, or if I don’t have it with me, I take my phone out and key in some stuff just so I don’t forget. And then when I get home, I start making sense of them.

Tru: Hee hee!! (YAY TVXQ COMBEBACK!!!) You know, "Queen of Wishful Thinking" is the reason why I'm so into Asian pop culture. (First and foremost THANK YOU for writing that story!) How does it make you feel to know that, although they are works of fiction, your stories have impacted people from around the world?

Skyelee: I feel really flattered that you mentioned *Queen of Wishful Thinking since it HAS been ages since that was completed, and it was my first ever DBSK fanfic as well. I have plenty of memories writing that piece, and I am glad that five years later there are still people like you who come up to  me (online) and tell me that they liked my old fics. To have made a mark on these readers’ hearts is really an achievement in itself.

Tru: I must admit… that is one of my favorite stories and everyone that I share it with says that they love it too! Do you have any favorite Soomp! authors or stories?

Skyelee: To be honest, and I’ve told some people this before, I have a bad track record in keeping track of or finishing certain pieces of fiction I see over the internet. Perhaps it’s because there’s a lot of distraction, that’s why I barely finish any fiction posted online. I hope this doesn’t sound rude or anything but have to say I don’t have any favorites as of the moment.

Tru: Hahaha nope it isn't rude at all! ^_^ So do you have any future plans to get another story on Soompi or another forum or have have you hung up your ink pen for good?

Skyelee: I do, in fact have… at least two plots running around my head for quite some time now. From time to time, I’d be bouncing off ideas with our fanfix mod and sometimes she’d give me bits and pieces of insight. It just got busy on my end ever since I finished Chasing After You, that’s why I haven’t been able to work on any new piece as of yet. But rest assured that I will be writing and posting again. I can’t promise you when, though, but I hope it doesn’t take me another three years! ^^

Tru: I will definitely be there just waiting for your first post! Your stories don't have lemons so I don't feel hesitant to share them with my sisters.  I think that's why everyone loves you. Your stories are simply well put together without adding unnecessary lemon scenes! ^_^

So as a successful author on Soompi, what message would you like to give to the newbies who have just discovered their talent?

Skyelee: (The word successful is very heavy! :P)
Just write, write, write! Don’t let anything stop you from writing, not even negative criticism should get in your way. As long as you continue writing, you’ll be able to sift your mistakes through and polish your skills. I myself have a long long looooong way to go, but I try to write every once in a while so I don’t get rusty or lose the drive. Just continue writing and love what you’re writing. Hopefully, your readers will love you back for what you’ve created. ^^

Tru: That's some really good advice!! Do you have any shout outs you would like to make??

Skyelee: To my readers, everyone from *Queen of Wishful Thinking, to She Who Must Not Be Loved, to Chasing After You, THANK YOU VERY MUCH for the love and the time and the attention you’ve given me. I hope I’ll be able to “meet” you again sometime soon, hopefully with a new story I’ll be able to share with you. Everyone who’s been encouraging me to write, you know who you are, thank you for believing. <3

Tru: One last question before I let you go.

Nuna501 (Gypsy) asked: Skyelee21, who's your fave published author? And can you share the first sentence of your nanowrimo entry? Thanks again for doing this interview!!!

Skyelee: Right now, my favorite author would be Mitch Albom.
And my first sentence for the unfinished Nanowrimo entry would be this: Some people say that when one’s in the brink of death, his entire life flashes before his very eyes.

Tru: Thanks again Tara for taking time out of your busy schedule to do this interview with me! I'm sure your other fans are happy to get know you on a more personal level!

Skyelee: Thank you so much as well for making me part of this blog of yours, Tru. ^^ I feel really honored that you approached me for this interview, and I hope to be able to inspire new writers out there too.

  1. Yay, Tara!!! I really enjoyed this. You know how much I admire you as a writer. You rarely find pure talent nowadays, so when I found you, I was ecstatic. And, did you know that because of Chasing After You, I got acquainted with one of the best readers I've ever had?--Ghetty (aka Ghilaire/Trufloetry). So that's another plus from CAY. I love the opening paragraph, by the way. It was definitely a hook. Hope you'll get to finish it soon.

Ghetty, thanks for giving us the opportunity to know more about skyelee21. And thanks for the shoutout:)
